Another great story from one our former students. This week we hear from Alicia Lichter, an IE Honours Student and musician.

“…school will teach you more than just subjects - it will teach you social skills, how to communicate, how to navigate tough challenges..”

I joined AICS in 2011, and I graduated in 2022. I was thus at the school for eleven years, irrevocably shaping my childhood and making me who I am today.

After I finished school, I moved to Spain and started the Bachelor in Behaviour and Social Science at IE University. I lived in Segovia – a small, idyllic town – for one year, before moving to the capital city of Madrid for the remainder of my bachelor's degree. Living abroad was one of the best decisions I could’ve made, as it opened up my worldview and allowed me to meet so many new people. The Netherlands and Spain are very different countries, so it was also important for me to allow me to see different ways of living. At the moment, I am in the third year of my bachelor degree, with one year to go. I’ve also started pursuing a professional career as a singer-songwriter, and will be spending my semester abroad in London, hopefully allowing me to enter a new and exciting phase of my life.

My fondest memories at AICS always involved teachers that particularly inspired me and played a crucial role in my development as a young adolescent. I really enjoyed the mentorship and guidance I felt from my teachers at AICS, and will always remember the impact that some of them had on my life.

I would recommend that current students enjoy and appreciate the kind staff that works towards making their education as valuable as possible. There are so many unconscious ways that learning takes place, and school will teach you more than just subjects – it will teach you social skills, how to communicate, how to navigate tough challenges and also lay the foundation for the personality you will develop later in life.
