Welcome to the Amsterdam International Community School!
The Amsterdam International Community School is a Dutch International Primary and Secondary School offering international education in English. The AICS caters for the needs of students of all nationalities who are temporarily living in the Netherlands and are requiring high-quality, accessible, community-based international learning.
We are a school for students who are able and prepared to value and handle differences and diversity. Our education aims to teach our students to become compassionate and wise human beings through knowledge and inquiry.
At the AICS, important values underpin our work. They include diversity, integrity, inquiry and community. These values embody who we are and they are the starting point for achieving our goal, which is to provide our students with the highest possible quality of teaching and learning.
We offer education for children/students from 4 to 19 years. We are an IB World School, which means that we offer the International Baccalaureate programme. In addition to our Primary and Secondary Schools we provide day care, out-of-school care and lunchtime supervision for children aged between 0 and 12.
The AICS is part of the Esprit Scholengroep, a large group of different schools in Amsterdam.
Community-based International Learning at AICS
We believe in Community-based International Learning: ‘the education of the international community, in the Dutch and International community, by the Dutch and International Community.
Our students acquire all the necessary academic skills while learning about themselves, their community, and the international world. We aim at:
Talent development: Enabling students and staff to achieve their full potential;
World citizenship: Creating an accessible, diverse, caring learning environment and displaying respect for people from all backgrounds;
Professional and result-oriented: Developing high-quality, meaningful and accessible approaches to (team) teaching and learning, producing clearly documented outcomes which are held up against official approved benchmarks;
Entrepreneurship: Creatively use and add to the experience of living in the Amsterdam and Dutch community.
