Sandcastle Chair

Zen

Hello, I'm Zen Khan, APS Chair for the Sandcastle campus. This is my family’s second year at AICS—my son (Group 4) and my daughter (MYP5) joined last year, and this year our middle child joined too (MYP1). I have over 25 years of professional experience at various corporations, and one year under my belt lending my expertise to developing the strengths of the APS leadership team. I am thrilled to be able to continue collaborating with such a dedicated team of parents who share the same vision of supporting an active parent community at AICS.

South Chair

Carolyn

Hello, I’m Carolyn Lam-Leventis, APS Chair for the South campus. I have had leading roles in APS since its beginnings in 2021, and I’m excited to continue sharing my experience with the growing team as it gets stronger each year. My family came from Toronto (Canada) five years ago and our children—a son in MYP4 and a daughter in MYP2—have been at AICS since arriving in Amsterdam. I look forward to guiding the APS leadership team in 2024/25 in finding more ways to make the APS even more cherished by our parent community.

Treasurer

Sudheer

Hello, I am Sudheer Yalla, and my son is in Group 3. My family is originally from India, but we have been living in the Netherlands for six years, residing in Amstelveen. With 18 years of experience in the fields of finance, technology and engineering, I am currently the sales strategy lead for Tableau at Salesforce. Outside of work, I am very active and pursue an interest in playing badminton and tennis. I strongly believe in the power of teamwork and collaboration, and I am eager to contribute my professional skills and passion to the APS.

Secretary

Brian

My wife and I arrived in the Netherlands from Maine (USA) four years ago with our two daughters. We live in Amsterdam and we love it here! My younger daughter is currently a DP2 student at AICS Southeast and is on the Model UN. My older daughter graduated from AICS South and is now enrolled at Leiden University in The Hague. I am currently in my second year as the Secretary for the cross-campus APS, but I have been involved in the APS at a leadership level since we first arrived at AICS.

Comms Lead

Kate

Hello, I’m Kate and this is my second year as the Communications Lead for the APS. I’m British, but moved to Amsterdam after living 15 years in the USA. I’ve worn many professional hats over the years, but the one that I currently wear is as an English-language editor. I joined the APS with an eye to streamlining communications and a mission to increase the visibility of the APS to parents. I am proud of the stabilizing work and outreach that we did last year, and I am keen to build on our strengths as we engage more and more parents. I have a daughter in MYP3

South Events

Mohita

Greetings, I am Mohita Upreti, and this year I will be overseeing APS events at the South campus (last year I was the lead for both campuses!). I have been an integral part of the parent community at AICS for the past four years, and you will see me at almost all the APS events, but especially Popcorn Fridays! As a former teacher and events coordinator, I am passionate about contributing to the diverse activities and events organized by the APS. I am keen to apply my enthusiasm to enhance the parent community at AICS. My son is currently enrolled in DP2.

Sandcastle Events

Karin

Hello, I’m Karin, and I’m excited to step into the new role of SE Events Lead. My family and I have recently moved to Amsterdam, and I’m eager to bring fresh energy to the parent community. With experience in content creation, community building and event planning, I’m passionate about creating meaningful and fun events that bring people together. As a mother of two boys in Group 5 and Group 7, I understand the value of building a supportive and connected parent network, and I look forward to organizing events that everyone can enjoy!

Community Lead

Juliana

My name is Juliana and I am Brazilian, living in the Netherlands for the last 7 years. I have two boys, one in Group 4 another who will start at AICS in 2025. I have a background in product development, and I currently work for a US company with outlets all over the world. When I arrived in the Netherlands, I joined several groups to help me find myself as a person, a mom and a professional. One was an organization that helps expats to settle in the Netherlands and after I started working, I volunteered in this same organization for four years helping other expats to also find opportunities.

Class Rep Lead

Shriram

Hello! I’m Shriram Alapakkam Krishnan, and I am the Class Rep Lead for the APS this year. I have been associated with APS for almost 2 years now and I was the SE PYP rep lead last year. I am excited by this role and the opportunity to collaborate with class reps and provide them a platform not only to help parents find a supportive and fun community within the school but also improve their children’s learning experience at AICS. My elder daughter is in MYP1 and I have a son in Group 5.

Advisor

Debasri

I have been involved with the APS for three years and have gained valuable experience and knowledge that I bring to my role as advisor. I have been living in the Netherlands for 12 years, and my children (a son in MYP4 and a daughter in MYP1) have been at AICS since the start of their schooling. I am an entrepreneur and have my own small business. I like to keep myself busy, arranging events in my neighborhood, volunteering for Amstelveen Oranje, and promoting ethnic culture in the Netherlands through various cultural programs.
