Hello, I'm Zen Khan, chair of APS for the Sandcastle location. My family is new to AICS with both our children joining this academic year (2023/24), a son in Group 3 and a daughter in MYP4. With over 25 years of professional work experience for various corporations, I am eager to apply my expertise to APS. I am also thrilled to collaborate with a skilled and dedicated team of parents who share the same vision of developing and supporting an active parent community.
South Chair

I am the chair of APS from the South campus. Everyone calls me Debby for short! I have been involved with the APS for over two years and have gained valuable experience and knowledge that I bring to my role as chair. I have been living in the Netherlands for 12 years, and my children (a son in MYP3 and a daughter in Group 5) have been at AICS since the start of their schooling. I am an entrepreneur and have my own small business. I like to keep myself busy and socially active, arranging events in my local neighborhood, volunteering for Amstelveen Oranje, and promoting ethnic culture in the Netherlands through various cultural programs.

Greetings, I am Mohita Upreti, and I oversee APS events by working alongside event coordinators at South and Sandcastle locations. I have been an integral part of the AICS community for the past four years and you will see me at almost all the APS events, but especially Popcorn Fridays! As a former teacher and events coordinator, I am passionate about contributing to the diverse activities and events organized by the APS. I am keen to apply my enthusiasm and expertise to enhance the parent community at AICS. My son is currently enrolled in DP1.

Hello! I'm the Lead Class Representative for the APS. The class reps are the parent volunteers in each class who help connect AICS parents to each other via Whatsapp groups. Through this network, we help to provide parents with information as well as foster community among parents by supporting class-related discussions. I was an elementary school educator and class coordinator for nine years after working in high-tech social networking and content development in Silicon Valley. My oldest daughter graduated from AICS and is attending ULeiden, and my son is in DP2, graduating in 2024.

I am originally from India but I have been living in NL for the last 8 years. My child is in Group 1 at the AICS. I have a background in digital marketing and communications, and I currently work at the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education. I am an active member of my local community in Amstelveen where I run the Facebook group Amstelveen Mamas, a support network for expat families in Amstelveen.

My wife and I arrived in the Netherlands from Maine (USA) three years ago with our two daughters. We live in Amsterdam and we love it here! My younger daughter is currently a DP1 student at AICS Southeast and is on the Model UN. My older daughter graduated from AICS South and is now enrolled at Leiden University in The Hague. I am currently the APS Secretary and have been involved in APS leadership since we first arrived at AICS.

I have been a parent at AICS since my first daughter joined in 2020. She is now in Group 3 and I have another daughter who is in Group 1. This is my second year in the role of treasurer for the APS. I joined the APS so that I could contribute my financial knowledge to the parents association.

Hello, I’m Kate and I am the Communications Lead for the APS this year. I’m British, but moved to Amsterdam after living 15 years in the USA. I’ve worn many professional hats over the years, but the one that I currently wear is as an English editor. I joined the APS with an eye to streamlining communications and a mission to increase the visibility of the APS to parents. I have a daughter in MYP2.
