Global Citizenship
Global citizenship is about understanding the world and developing the skills to actively contribute to it. As global citizens, we are aware of ourselves and our impact on the world. We take responsibility for our actions and actively participate in our communities.
By doing so, we help to protect our planet, promote fairness and equality, and build stronger communities. Intercultural learning is a crucial part of this process, helping us to understand and appreciate different cultures and perspectives.
What Does Global Citizenship Mean for Our School Community?
We understand Global citizenship to focus on three main areas: the planet (Earth), society (People) and social, political and economic factors (World) with sustainability at their core. We understand a key aspect of sustainability to focus on the future, extending beyond our lifetime and the importance of taking responsibility for this now. We think it is important to ensure that our students, but also our more immediate and wider community engage with, advocate and role-model responsible and ethical behaviour.

Global Citizenship Day 2024
On the 16th of July 2024, we asked our students : What language does a Global Citizen speak?
"A Global Citizen Speaks the Language of Empathy"
At the AICS, we believe that being a global citizen is about more than just speaking a particular language. It's about understanding and embracing different cultures, perspectives, and experiences.
That's why we challenged our community to reflect on the true language of a global citizen. While many might think it's English, we discovered a deeper truth: A global citizen speaks the language of empathy, compassion, and care.
Our students had the opportunity to explore this idea firsthand through workshops that introduced them to various languages and cultures. They learned how to express their unique perspectives and represent their community as global citizens in creative ways.
By the end of the day, it was clear that our community not only understood this powerful message but also embraced it wholeheartedly.
