For the past few weeks, some of our students have been giving presentations to different classes about Eco Schools. Our school is a part of the Eco Schools. The topics that we focus on are litter, energy conservation, waste recycling, water, school grounds, biodiversity, transport, healthy living, and global perspective.
The Eco-School organisation offers schools a chance to show their ecological footprint, and encourages them to improve it. It is an international organization that is funded by the Foundation of Environmental Education. It also focuses on sustainable development. It is student led. In our school we have an eco-committee that works on different improvements for our school. The topics that they focus on are litter, energy conservation, waste recycling, water, school grounds, biodiversity, transport, healthy living, and global perspective.
Our school has been evaluated and determined that we can fulfil the requirements to be an Eco-School. The reason why our school chose to apply for this evaluation was to include everybody, improve school environment, motivate everybody, improve the attitude of our community, involve communities, and connect globally with other Eco schools.
Our school is implementing this by using less papers for educational and informational purposes, placing plants around the school, recycling, and creating an eco-committee. This way our school also influences the future generation to think more green.
