AICS alumni in the spotlight: Zhengyang Lu

For our final story of 2024, we connect with Zhengyang Lu, a Robotics Master student at TU Delft

I joined the Amsterdam International Community School in 2012 in MYP1 and stayed all the way until graduation in 2019, after which I immediately went to TU/e and studied Automotive Technology.  I am now doing my final year of a Robotics Master at TU Delft. Currently, I am interning at a drone company and will be doing my thesis at ESA. I am also managing a robotics student team and am part of a robotics student association board. We actually competed in an international robotics competition recently and got decent results.

From my many memories of my time at the AICS, the school trips were a lot of fun. For me, especially in Ypres and Budapest, so many funny things happened. I also have very fond memories of my Physics and Math HL classes, as they were also a lot of fun. I am still close with the friends from those classes. Math HL in particular was great because there were only seven of us.

My words of advice for current AICS students would be to join some extracurricular activities like sports or clubs and try out lots of different things.  My biggest regret was not joining SPAICS during my time at AICS. Don’t stress over what others might think of you. Enjoy your hobbies, love yourself. You are the protagonist of your own story.
