AICS alumni in the spotlight: Hana Moataz Elsayed
Continuing with our Sharing Stories series, this week we hear from Hana Moataz Elsayed, an Assistant Media Planner at Starcom Canada for Publicis Groupe.
I joined AICS in 2013, after which, I moved to Toronto, Canada to finish my schooling. I attended Toronto Metropolitan University and earned a Bachelor's of Commerce majoring in Retail Management, graduating with distinction. During the COVID pandemic, I started a stone jewelry start-up called Bahget Hana, as a way to push myself to continue my hobby. I also obtained my PADI certification for scuba diving, allowing me to pursue my passion for underwater exploration.
I am currently an Assistant Media Planner at Starcom Canada for Publicis Groupe. I'm passionate about the media field and excited to work in an industry that allows me to be creative, strategic, and continuously learn about new trends and technologies.
One of my fondest memories at AICS has to be the sailing camp at the start of the school year. I had just moved to Amsterdam, and the thought of traveling alone was terrifying - I didn't know anyone and felt completely out of my comfort zone. But I decided to go for it, and it turned out to be the best trip of my life!
As we set sail, I was filled with a mix of excitement and anxiety, but by the end of the trip, I had forged bonds with some incredible people who have become lifelong friends. It’s ironic how a single leap into the unknown led to such meaningful connections that have lasted nearly 12 years! Plus, that trip ignited my obsession with Hagelslag. Who knew that a simple chocolate sprinkle could hold such nostalgic power? That sailing adventure was truly the beginning of my journey in Amsterdam, both literally and figuratively! Also shoutout to MYP2B!
My advice to current AICS students would be to embrace new adventures and welcome change, as they can lead to incredible growth. Having lived in four countries and learned four languages, I’ve come to understand that these experiences shape who we are. Each challenge and opportunity enriches our lives, helping us develop resilience and a broader perspective. Don’t hesitate to step out of your comfort zone - it's often where the most valuable lessons are found.
